Is AI going to replace humans?

AI vs Humans
On a recent shoot, I had an insightful conversation with some of the leaders in the advertising industry about AI Replacing Big-Budget Productions in Advertising. Is it necessarily the case though? I don’t think so.
There's no doubt that AI is changing the advertising landscape. With faster content creation, hyper-personalized ads, and even synthetic actors, it’s creating a significant change. But here’s my take: While AI will redefine creativity for many brands, the premium companies will still lean into high-production, real-actor campaigns. Here’s why:
Exclusivity survives automation
When everyone uses AI tools, differentiation becomes harder. Big brands may use AI for ideation or efficiency, but they’ll double down on what’s scarce: real star power and production grandeur.
Craftsmanship and authenticity
Legacy brands thrive on these two principles. A meticulously shot ad, with A-list talent and cinematic storytelling, signals prestige in a way that freely accessible AI-generated content can’t replicate.
AI can mimic people, but it can’t replace them
Think of iconic campaigns—Apple’s "1984," or Nike’s "Dream Crazy." Their power lies in human nuance, imperfect emotion, and cultural resonance.
That said, it’s undeniable that AI will reshape the industry:
Smaller brands can compete in the market with cost-effective, tailored content.
Performance marketing will rely even more on AI-driven dynamic ads.
Hybrid approaches (e.g., AI storyboarding + human directors) will become the norm.
I envision the future to be a split ecosystem, where AI handles the volume, but premium brands will keep betting on the moment. After all, a real connection with the audience can seldom be artificially generated.
